Antidote Room Fun at Escapology San Diego

Have you discovered Escapology San Diego, the amazing escape room gem in Belmont Park (Mission Beach, San Diego)? Almost 5 years ago, I remember walking by Escapology with my son (only 8-years-old at the time) and thinking how fun it would be to do an Escape Room with him. At the time I thought he was too young, but I also had been very new to the concept of escape rooms. I was actually terrified of them for a minute, as being trapped in a room and not knowing answers to clues and riddles always gave me a tiny bit of anxiety. Escape rooms are pretty amazing as I have come to find, and very addicting! Fast forward to the present: I'm glad I waited because I was able to experience Escapology for the first time with my 2 of oldest kids: now 13, and 9. What I love about escape rooms is that there are always a variety of different puzzles that can cater to different personalities. For example, I love reading riddles and solving them, while other players like to be hands-on by exploring the room itself for hidden clues. I always think that something is going to pop up at me if I explore rooms too deeply so I leave this task to other players. I played Antidote with 8 other players (2 of my kids, 3 of their friends, my brother and sister-in-law), and while the recommendation was 2-4, I think it was a suitable number as many clues were still pretty difficult and it took us all 3 hints to escape the room. It's true when they say that 2 (or 3 or 4...) heads are better than one as escape rooms really need to have a collaborative effort to succeed.

The age recommendation for Escapology is Ages 10 and up, and I agree this is a great guideline. One of my daughters was 9.5 and because she has older siblings and we play lots of board games that require deductive reasoning, she may have had a small leg up. If you are looking for a fun, family-friendly activity to do that encourages teamwork and critical thinking, this is definitely something you should put on your to do list! We are looking forward to trying out the 2 other rooms that Escapology has to offer. What other escape rooms have you done in San Diego? We'd love to know!

I wish I had more free time, because escape rooms are so fun! Thank you Escapology Escape Rooms San Diego, Antidote was great! Can’t wait to come try Budapest Express with the family.
